I have removed the IP from block list. Please avoid use of proxy when visiting sites on our server. Proxy sites are usually used for abuse and we do block some ip's that cause problems.

In general Proxy servers are blocked to clarify the users identity. Companies like profusehost.net which provide web space or a forum do not want their customers to use proxies to be sure who is using which service and what exactly is he or she doing. That is important to us because, the stuff team has to look for illegal content on the server and as to delete it. Also of course we do not want our forum to be spammed or so.

Therefore we force our customers not to use proxies, so it is clearly to see who did abuse or so on.

If this person uses a proxy he or she might say I did not do anything, it must be somebody else using the same proxy. We have no way to prove your identity trough an proxy server.

The proxy servers are only blocked to prevent abuse, this do not mean you or any body using your proxy have done anything wrong yet. But we want to prevent you from doing so, therefore in general we block proxy servers. If John decides not to block your proxy server, it is his decision, but I recommend to block them all and would be very happy if you decide not to use a proxy server when using the profusehost.net services. But I am just a Moderator and it is Johns decision if he allows you to use your proxy or not.

Sorry, there should be no difference between using a proxy or without. I can not imagine a proxy server to be faster then a direct connection. That seems to be impossible for me, because if your internet connection is limited to 500 kbit/s or so then there is no difference which side you connect to, they are all as slow. The proxy do not speed up your internet connection, the proxy only mixes your traffic with other users traffic, so nobody knows which sides you visit and so on.

Sorry if I am wrong, but I never heard about a speed increase when using a proxy, for me it always was an speed decrease, using a proxy.

you wont believe it but I myself experienced this one.. currently I'm using proxy @ 1.5mbps and without proxy at 800kbps.. there somehow would be a big difference ... take note that this is only HTTP proxy for "BROWSING" only!

Ok, but I am sorry I do not understand how this works. It still seems to be incredible for me. Because for me proxy are not as fast as direct connection, they are even slower.

Can you please provide a link to that proxy you are using ? I 'd like to try it on my own.

this proxy would only work if you are a subscriber of my ISP, Smart Broadband Inc., its a wireless internet connection here in the Philippines provided by a leading cellularphone network, Smart Communication Inc.
