Litning is polluting eartth!!!!

NASA scientists are developing new ways to monitor lightning NOx from Earth orbit." This is what NASA says and it is true. The huge energy required easily oxidizes N to form dangerous gases. And as all of you know Global warming is increasing. What man has done is really ......... now what do i say.... First he breaks a system now tries to repair it and in the processes eradicating the life on earth..... Start saving earth guys.... Or else be dead as mars........

Yes, but lightning has been around for as long as Earth has. Is there global warming? Yes, but the normal course of time will correct it. Are we going to be able to stop lightning? No, I applaud them for studying it, but it isn't gonna kill the earth in two days.

This is funny....scientists are complaining that lightning is polluting and they try find ways to stop it.Come on...i bet because of lightning the atmosphere is so polluted,because of it we have a hole in the ozone lair ,because of it the atmosphere is changing...not because of the chemical pollutants developed by men...the cars,factories, toxic waste,freon etc.Instead of studying how polluting lightning is they should try to figure ways to stop the human pollution

I agree with axell, people are getting more and more ridiculous. Lightning is a natural event and how can it produce pollutants if it's natural. People are natual too, but we are trying to manipulate our environment in order to "better" our lives and get some money out it.

Another similar thing I read in New York Times last week-"Obesity will help you fight heart attack "..umm..what?...the same stupid way to get people to read and be obese. Seems like scientists have nothing better to do but go and do obscure studies on something that is already obvious and obviously not true according to their statements.

Wait a minute... scientists have actually taken the time to research lightning, a naturally-occurring and potentially unstoppable force of nature, and found that it actually pollutes the earth? And now they're actually trying to prevent it? I think they just got bored with all the normal stuff, like stopping the ozone from depleting, and decided to go after some random thing. If they tried hard enough, they could probably find some connection to earth pollution in ANYTHING on earth. Next thing you know, they're going to try and stop people from driving cars.

And we're still running cars on gasoline.

lightning may cause a pollutant but since it was here before us there must be something that uses that pollutant... there is most likely an organism that uses one pollutant and converts it into something better
like trees.... uses carbon dioxide and makes oxygen....

If nature is producing a harmful thing it will have ways to solve it. It is what I think. I think this is just like blaming nature for our wrong deeds. We humans are always like this.

The Earth has been cycling between warming and cooling since it's existance. I live in North Dakota and they have found this area to be rich in fossels and dinosaur bones. They say it was once a tropical area. So what caused that warming thousands of years before man's existance? Yes I believe we "may" be warming but it is vain to give man that power. They say that just one valcano puts out more polution that all of mankind ever has over time.... so what's up with that? Wake-up these guilt trips layed on week men are just scams to make a lot of money or for lame under achiever scientists to suck grant money out of the US Government.
