Smile Coockbook recommendations anyone

I'm looking for an all purpose cookbook. One that covers a range of different cuisines, that use beginner-intermediate level of cooking skill. I'm looking for a book I can skim through to make family dinners. I want to learn how to make new things, but don't know where to start. So does anyone have any cookbooks that they really enjoy? Thanks so much!

This is a pretty old post Alvin, are you still looking for a cookbook? If you want something all purpose, you pretty much can't beat the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, which is the one with a red-and-white plaid cover. I have one of these and I use it all the time. They have the basic recipe for anything you might want to make--lasagne, biscuits, pancakes, roast turkey, scalloped potatoes, oatmeal cookies, chocolate pudding, apple pie...you get the picture! It has good instructions for beginners too--for example it will have a picture showing you how to cut out the biscuits or carve the turkey. Definitely the best choice for an all-purpose cookbook.

Let me know if you want any other suggestions--I love to cook and own quite a few cookbooks.
