Default Final Fantasy 8

I recently obtained the full game of Final Fantasy 8 (5 CD's *legally*) for the PC of a friend. It works fine on his desktop computer (after just looking at it). But when I play it on my laptop (which I am on at the moment typing) the games plays really fast, for example, when the characters are in battle or even walking it is like they are on speed and is 10 x faster than normal speed. Could it be that my 2.01ghz processor is too fast along with my 256mb SD DDR RAM??? Is there away that I can 'slow down' the game?

I really need help......

See my friend has a 1.7ghz processor, 512mb RAM and a 64mb Radion 9000 graphics card, and the game runs normal on his computer, not fast or nothing. And there is only what a 300 / 400 mhz speed difference between mine and his main prossesing unit - that is where I am confused!!! ???

umm.. maybe there's some option during gameplay that allow you to adjust the game speed and walking speed?
