I'm not too sure about Google. Everything they seem to do is tracking each and every person. Storing there emails, which everyone does, is fine but having tracking cookies, tracking every search made by that specific ID, and there toolbar only makes it worse. They're breaking there motto of "Don't be Evil" by spying for the sake of information.

Awesome. I've always wanted to try GMail. >_< Sadly, the CAPTCHA thing isn't working at the moment. Just my luck. XD

hey rock, when i read your suggestion, i think i can be true i do not worry about Google, but i don't be necessary to join gmail though it serves us lotta facilities. i think same as rock, esp. when the first time i knew what the "backside" Google do on the net.

but anyway i have question, can someone phising to other gmail id? i was too worried about it since yahoo!mail is vulnerable

Google is most certainly softening up. As for the tracking thing, these guys are just trying trying to stay in business. the ad business is risky and you have to take desperate measures to surtail people who are bent on making fast money by obviously gathering information on everyone

i some how think that Google services are good & affordable to people on the net but not safe to trust with them because like people getting mail IDs

People can get personal stuff too.. so that's a problem & till now there is no system such as a fool proof system to protect user data

I think they are great. Much better than hotmail and yahoo accounts. Gmail account can be used for your email of which you can have 5 GB of data for free! I use Google apps for my email accounts for my website and its great.

If anyone wants a free email account ...@wired.profusehost.net let me know.

I disagree with gojiela and rock. If you are that concerned don't hop on the net as that happens everywhere not just with Google.

Yeah G-mail is great, now with more than 6GB storage and a new fast loading Interface. But I still like the invitation type joining since everyone will value it more than a free ID.

I struggled a lot to get my first G-Mail ID. Asking for a invitation from my friends and relatives for weeks. So, I do value it more than other accounts. I think the invitation type registration helps much to reduce the number of unwanted users....

Invitation type registration is good for reducing the spam ids. I got ma goolge id through lot of struggle and was a precious one for me. Not much people had gmail id at that time.

i have a gmail account but i dont prefer to use it since, it'll take time to open rather than opening mails on yahoo! but what i like on Google, is that they were more famous than yahoo when it comes to page rank services.!

What I felt was just the opposite. Once G-mail is loaded, its superb fast in accessing mails. And the new interface of G-Mail loads faster than that of the new Yahoo interface. Also, I hate the ads appended to the mails by Yahoo...

I love Gmail and Google Apps.

They are both great, have lots of space, now almost 7GB.

I love the conversation feature on Gmail which puts all emails on the same topic together so that it is easier to view emails on the same topic. Makes it really easy to keep track of your previous emails without having to go through and find the last email on the topic somewhere in your list.

I don't have these issues. I used to use Hotmail and I had these issues all the time.

Gmail has a great spam filter that except for the very rare email that slips through always puts it in the spam filter. I didn't have such luck with hotmail's system.

Also remember regardless of which email account you use if you sign up for lots of things on the internet requiring your email account this can be found by spammers causing you to get a lot of spam.

I concur. Gmail is great with spam, actually. They implemented some kind of neural network that literally learned what is spam, and what isn't.

Yeah the antispam system of Gmail is the best, i haven't receive a spam message in months, and the Spam folder is flooded of this message, i check this folder to see if one important message is considered as spam and this never happens!!!!

Actually, I get some spam, but not much. Mostly newsletters that I once wanted, but I now have little or no interest in. Not really spam, but I don't want it. I'm just too lazy to unsubscribe to them...
