Google is providing a email server facility for free.
You can have user@yourdomain, there is paid and free membership and in free you can have upto 500 email accounts at the beginning and you can ask for more if you want. The email is with 2GB of space and with full gmail facilities.

Yeah its a good option to switch to Google apps. I started using it one and a half months ago. You just need a domain and change the MX records. Its very simple to configure MX records in C-Panel. But, the Google apps doesn't provide all services provided by Google. It provides 2GB mail, Integrated Google Chat, Personalised homepage, calender, page creator and documents and also, no automated signups. Administrator has to create the email ID's.

Giving away emails with your domain name is an easiest way to make your site popular...

Also, the e-mail is available in your GPRS mobile too...

I also signed up for Google Web Apps to use as my email service for my website. I found out about it from reading Blizzard's other thread about his website. It is much better than hosting with Profusehost because you get tons of free email addresses and best of all it doesn't take up any of your website's data usage space.

I transferred all my current accounts over to Google and it has been working quite well for the last fortnight.

We have about 10 email accounts already in full swing. The only other email account I use now is my Bigpond email, gmail account and my website's email. It has given me the chance to consolidate my email further.

Previously I had different email accounts all over the place and it was very confusing now I use only 3-4 email accounts.

Hopefully Google will continue with its great services and continue to create new ones.

i have used windows live custom domains & i thought that was better
i have never tried the Google one because more restrictions on email & also number of names

in live there was no restrictions or any probs

I like the gmail feature that puts all emails of the same conversation topic together for easy access and reading as with other email services like hotmail you have to read through and search all emails to find the emails that link to each other.

Google services are good & fast but their Ads & restrictions are something that i personally can't get along.

Eg: they show ads on nearly every page in the email & make some many bucks with it

why can't they make the email at least clean of ads
at least they can remove the ads while composing a message

Ok then, can we link our Adsense publisher id into our gmail and Google apps accounts so that we get the money from the ad's as I can't remember if I have done this before??

There is option in Google apps. If you pay some money to Google for using this Google apps service then they will not display ads on your email account using Google Apps.
