From my experience on the web for 7yrs
i would recommend facebook because of the layout & security they give.

Clean, sleek, fast & very user friendly & easy to use. even a child of 8+ can use it

I use facebook now. Have account in WAYN, Friendster etc, but facebook is the best now. The applications function makes it more interesting and fun to use. Its also a great way to spend your time at when your're bored..

Orkut implemented cool new features, like updates from friends, new apps, and a lot of small changes here and there... And still its in the beta stage...

as of this moment the best social networking site is socialspark.com, and maybe because i'm also a blogger i'd love signing up to these kinds of site, a social site wherein friends are connected closely and you may also enroll your blog for money making

Orkut keeps rocking.... It now added themes and new apps and also have increased the privacy levels, which users can choose.

With the lauch of new orkut theme orkut has become more and more attractive you can choose your theme and it is wonderful. Limited number of themes are available now and there are new themes coming up. Now orkut is leading above all others by a great distance.

You should try yuwie.com. they pay you for feinds and pages views as well as refferals. it isnt alot oof money really but the incentive is better than nothing quite honestly.

I think, it will have lot and lots of ads. Then only a website can its visitors. Anyway I am not going to leave orkut for any reason. It is so cool.

Orkut is cool. I have accounts on Orkut, FaceBook and Hi5. But, I like Orkut all of the three as it has most of my friends there. Facebook has too many applications. An Overkill I'd say. Orkut is going the same way too.

When time goes, social networking sites now seems much boring and time consuming for me. I removed all my accounts, except the one in Orkut and used to visit it once in 3 or 4 days. Earlier, I was online in Orkut for more than two hours a day......

What do you all feel? Do all have the same intrest with social networking sites?

Social networking is really interesting at the beginning and as the time goes on we get bored of it. But it had changed out society a lot. Gave back us that old memories, friends who was in not touch with us and gave a new boost to our life.Its great to have a lot of friends around us.

I think the comment below is really inconciderate for the people wo rely on it for communication with friends and also family from around the world cheaply.

What if you had family the other side of the world, flights too expensive, and only could afford an internet connection and webcam with microphone.

Sometimes we can't all have the people we have around us.

facebook is now the king of communities.but it has some good competetors like myspace,orkut,hi5 etc. facebook is the largest community site and people are really involved in this site so much. it is very popular even in many third world countries.everyone is joining here like crazy.not only for cool apps and stuffs but also for finding someone becuase everyone is joining here.

I used to use Bebo but now I heavily use Facebook :P. I like Facebook because it's nice and clean (I honestly don't care if I can customise my profiles appearance or not) and the amount of applications is great.
