how do i install packages on xubuntu?

One way to do it is from the terminal. Launch a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). Now, this will only work if you know the name of the package. Have you chosen other repositories first?Open Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager). In Settings -> Repositories, make sure you have a "universe" repository activated.CHeers!
