Default how do i install xubuntu and vista on the same pc without having to create separate...

...partitions for each? i currently have xp and managed to get vista and xubuntu. i'm thinking of installing vista for the visual and xubuntu for the speed but i don't know how to install 2 os on the same pc. also, i heard a rumour about how i have to format my partitions with fat32 system file when i first install vista and then install xubuntu onto the same hd.i don't want to install different partitions for each os because i want to share the programs installed in one os. also, i want to be able to edit the read and write my files from both os.

Sorry, you can't install a linux distro in a fat32 partition also, the programs of Vista cannot be shared by Linux Operating Systems and vice versa. What you can do is to enable all the fat32 partitions in Xubuntu and can edit the files there. To install Xubuntu, you need an ext2 or ext3(ext3 is more preferred) partition along with a swap partition. To install Xubuntu, just make a partition empty by copying files to other partitions and format it. A 10GB size will be enough as you can save the files created in Xubuntu in the fat32 partitions. I am using Ubuntu along with XP and is going fine with my 80GB harddisk.
