Default What is the Debian mirror sites and directories that I can fill in when I am installing Debian in New

what is the Debian mirror sites and directories that I can fill in when I am installing Debian in New Zealand? I am installing Debian (Linux) to my PC.. I have a CD rom. The last stage of installation, it ask me to fill in the apt-sources so that I can get extra packages from the internet. In my polyteck, I was told to type in:deb http://kate.tekotago.ac.nz:9999/debian stable maindeb:http://kate.tekotago.ac.nz:9999/security stable/updates main

The lines will go into a text file etc/apt/source.list but outside the Polytek, the kate server doesn't work.

What should I type then? Pls note that the answers should includes directories not just mirror sites. That is, 2 sentences that I can fill in the source.list. I have tried replacing the http.kate.otago.ac.nz with ftp.nz.debian.org and it didn,t work.

There are couple of debian mirrors in New Zealand. You can use those. ftp.nz.debian.org debian.ihug.co.nz Otherwise there are many in Australia, which is I guess closer to you. Just take a look at the list of mirrors and see which one works out faster for you. Here is the mirror list.http://www.debian.org/mirror/listOn another note, if you are going to use linux, you will need to be able to be efficient in searching internet and do stuff yourself. Finding mirror sites is pretty minor problem that you should have solved yourself. Anyway
