Default Linux Equivalent Of VB

I heard there is software in Linux which is much like Microsoft Visual Basic. What is the name of the software. And do it support the .ocx file of Visual basic.

I haven't heard about any such. Why just looking for an equivalent? There are many others programming languages, which are much more powerful than VB. Personally, I hate VB now a days. Try Python. I hope you could easily adapt to it with your knowledge in VB.

I heard that there is something in Linux which is much like the Visual Basic. I meant the Graphical User Interface they are providing. I think VB is the most simple for making some small softwares for our day to day needs.

I searched the web and found two solutions:
-the mono project
and
-Phoenix

I think phoenix might be the software you are looking for, but if you are not sure just try both and tell us about your experiences. Regrades Snoop1990

Mono is the choice if you want do VB.NET and others .NET applications. I suggest program in other multiplataform language as Python .

If you mean VB.NET, then you could try MonoDevelop... I personally haven't tried it, and I'm not sure if it does VB.NET, but it's worth a try.

Yes thanx. I thought it would be better to get an experts opinion before learning that. Anyway i am going to give it a try. I just want to develop some small applications. Some simple one. Not too complex.

Have you tried QT and Gambas? I heard that it is somewhat equivalent to VB. Still haven't tried it...

you can use gambas if you use gnome, and kdevelop if your target user using KDE
and yes you can use QT for both Desktop manager, but none of the will be able to use .ocx file from VB.

It's a different world (OS I mean..)

VB? Clone on Linux/UNix flavour? Isn't it the other way round? MS always grabs ideas from other free wares and asks its customers to pay for the same!
