Trying to Make a New Wireless Network...?

Here is what happened:A couple years back my dad set up our wireless network. A few weeks ago two of us in the family purchased new laptops and now we don't know the password.So now I am trying to make a new network. I got my computer plugged in it recognizes a router and the internet with wires. I am trying to now create the wirless part in windows vista it is telling me that I need to manually configure the router. From there it takes me to the IP website where it pops up for a password. I found on the internet that for my router a linksys it says type in the Username and password as "admin". However the IP thingy is not taking that and won't allow me to create the new network.Please Help. I am completely computer illiterate and I need my internet!

If you have linksys, go to 192.168.1.1Leave the username blank, and put as the password 'admin'. This should let you in.Good luck!

Why don't you ask your father what the password is otherwise you may have to reset the whole router and reset it up from scratch if you can't get in and he didn't document it. If you still have the other pc's why can't you just get the pass you need from them unless it is Mac Addressing.

If you want some more help can you please provide what the router is and the model no as well as anything else you know about it. I can talk you /step you through it I just need some more information.
