It all depends what you want from a console and how much money you have to spend.Have a lot of money to spend and don't mind that there aren't that many games out for it (YET) then the Playstation 3 is the best choice. The graphics are way better then the xbox and it has ofcourse blu-ray which is probably gonna take over dvd's. Yet it is expensive and new, which means it lacks a diverse gamelist, but there are plenty of new titles anounced for the future.The Xbox 360 is relatively cheap, has a wide list of games and the online support is pretty great. The graphics are also pretty good, but nowhere near the Playstation 3 standard. If you want a console that has a variety of games to chose from, isn't to expensive then the xbox 360 is probably your best choice.

I have XBOX 360 and LOVE it. The games are teen and adult oriented so if there are children that will play you may want the PS3? If you are a big fan of God of War 1 and 2 then you may opt for PS3 cause there will be a 3rd GOW ( this is why I am saving my pennies to get PS3 also). I love all the games that the XBOX360 offers and the grapghics are too sweeeeeet. Good luck with your choice. There really is no bad choice!

Investment wise go with the X-Box because PS3 HAS NO GAMES THAT ARE UNIQUE YET!!!! They have some with the good graphics but you don't want to play the same ones over and over. By the X360 and with the change left over get more bang for your buck. Seeing as how you have enough to afford a PS3 you may have up to $150-250 worth of games.

Go with the 360, there are more game choices and currently at a better price. The graphics are just as good and the games are better than playstation (currently).
