When I click "search for media servers" on ps3, it freakin keeps saying "none found"

Ive got a PS3 ad when I click "search for media servers," it freakin keeps saying "non found." Why? I have an ethernet cable connected to my PS3 thats coming from a router thats hooked up to my PC. Now dont tell me I cant access my computer from my PS3 this whay cause then you will be wrong. I say that because I have done it, it just happens to happen, when the stupid a** PS3 feels like it. So my question is how do I fix this once and for all, to where its easy. I have Microsoft media player 11. I go to share media and the PS3 doesnt show up in the "share with" box. Can you tell me how I can get my computer to recognize the damn PS3?

in case u did it wrong follow this.....go to media player 11 tools, then options, then click library , then click configure sharing, then tick share my media and press ok, then the white box will appear with "share my media to" on top, then on ur ps3 scan for media servers and u will get a message on ur computer that a unknown device wants to share files....click allow if it asks or in the white box highlight the unknown device and click allow, then press apply/ ok then exit media player. Now on ps3 u search for media servers again this time u should be able to stream media from ur computer by selecing ur computer's name that shows up on ur ps3.
