I'm using the forum I'm constructing from scratch!

I've managed to solve the html problem now, I've got a new problem now though.

I'm trying to make a bit of script so I can go to a specific line in a txt file and edit only that line.

What I require to happen is as follows:
The Php script to go to the required line
The line then to appear in a <textarea>
The line can then be edited via this same <textarea>
And a simple button to click to save changes or cancel.

Anyone know how thanks.

I'm still learning loads, my squl skills are zero lol, I'm just trying to get the basic structure in place and i'll work on logins later.

So far you can post/view messages with any username you like and use smilies, working on edit posts and quote posts now, plus I'm making it so you can view on wap and web.

You could try phpBB 3 as a starter which works great and is free and then you can also fully customise it to your needs instead of having to start from scratch.

I have used phpBB 3 for a long time on my websites and for clients and it works great.

Another free forum is smf but I can tell you how good it is though as I have not used it yet!

I am not php guru after all, but if you have a question about a certain kind of request or so I might know how to help you. Just keep in mind I do not have the time to write the hole code for you ;-) . If you want to I can offer a my own to tutorial how to develop your own guestbook and then you maybe want to extent my guestbook code and build your on forum.

If you need some help related to your code, just post the code in here, because I am just a moderator and I do not have any extra user rights.
