Default What is the going hourly rate for freelance writing/PR?

I have an opportunity to take a 6-week freelance gig that would require writing of newsletters, press releases, website copy and other PR needs. Can anyone tell me the range of hourly freelance rates -- particularly in the Atlanta area if possible?I just underwent a layoff, so this would be a great chance to earn some money while I continue my job search. Thanks for your advice! Please note that this is a contract position where I would be working on-site, on multiple projects for four to six weeks. As such, I anticipate being asked my hourly rate. It's likely they will consider me a "temporary worker". Thanks! :-)

Generally speaking: $0 per hour.Freelancers are contract employees, meaning if your contract is for work that pays $1,000, you get $1,000 whether it takes you 100 hours or 10 hours. The employer is allowed to control your finished product (i.e. - take it back and rewrite this section!), but not how you get there (doing all your writing at Starbucks at 10 p.m.? Nothing he can say about it).As a contract employee, YOU control how much you make...but if it takes you 100 hours to make 100 dollars...that's your fault, and not the publication's. It has its risks as well as benefits.

what david said in one point is right...
but the going rate depends upon the size of the project & also the time taken to complete it .

Sometimes a job might take 1 day to 1month or more to complete & thirdly what i want to tell is that it depends upon the person who recruits him/her.

if you want him to work for you for 20 days then you pay him that much.

so the cost is dependable upon different situvations in different regions

i am from india & a freelancer gets paid only 2$s - 4$s an hour for web related work & also 6$-7$ for content related work.

so its depeneds upon the place & person who recruits you.

All the best my friend.

Bye

yes true
you need to quote a price & then accept or reject the proposal.
if you accept it it;s your duty to complete it within the span of time mentioned by you to the client.

so work & get paid
