Default Does Ranks needed on your site?

Does Google's PageRank, Yahoo Rank, Alexa Rank or what ever rank really matter for your site? Are willing spent your time to get the highest rank? and what does it mean to you as the webmaster of the site?

Just curious...

internet ranking does really matter , it gives you the popularity plus got a chance to have a tons of money ..lastly, if somebody searches for something and that something could be found on your site your site will be on the top list or on the 1st page of targets.

Yes I agree with joseph0829 ! It really matters and I am quiet happy my page is first on Google.com as well as Google.de (my local Google) when you search for my nickname. So at least those who remember my nickname can find my page ;-)

Thing is it does matter but what matters more is to have unique content on your site as this will then allow you to get good rankings for your site!

Yes but I think both things are quiet important, you need great content and great advertisement (recognized by search engine ranking). Because if you only have the content and nobody knows about your side that is not good as well. That is the reason why I started advertising my side before having it finished (and this is what all the big companies do) . I hope I'll be able to release a final version of my homepage in august, to start right through. But I already have my side ranked at Google and on many forums. (just search my name "Snoop1990" and you will see)

I think the page rank really matters. All like to be best in his class and our contents must be so as to make us the best in the business. I really like to be the first and i think all of us. So page rank really matters when it come to making money of the website and satisfaction of keeping a website.

Ranks are not very important as them on their own mean nothing.

A site that hasn't been used or isn't active can just have a good pr but doesn't mean that it is doing well currently it just means it did well at some time in the past to achieve that rank.

You need to combine this with unique visitors to your site as well as a number of other things.

Ranking doesn't play a role that much. You can have low ranking and rank no 1 for certain keywords. It all depends on how competitive the market is for that keyword. For example, if you have a keyword that is really competitive, you might not rank high if your site has low ranking. However, if you have an article that has little competition, you might rank high for that.

So, don't focus on ranking that much. If your site has content that is available on other sites, you will not rank well. If your site content is somewhat unique, you might start gaining in site ranking and get higher listing in results. Everytime when you start to write something, research the topic and see how many results you get in search engine. Also, i recommend focusing on micro niches instead of going for very broad topics.

Yes it is always a good idea to try and do something new on your site or try something new that users don't get elsewhere. That way your users have a reason to want to come back to your site.

And yes working in a niche makes it easier to achieve this.

It is always harder to try and maintain a site that caters for a very broad topic.

Page rank does matter. When someone googles ZZTech, it's annoying to find my site as number... 23 or something (thanks to some Chinese company called "ZZTECHS"...). It is nice to move up the Google scale, you know. When I Google something, I rarely go beyond the second page.

That may be true but the thing is it does not represent how popular a certain site is.

A site may have a pr of 2 or 3 or more but it may not even be active any more.

The thing is your site can be very popular and earn lots of money without even having a great pr.

There are much more important things than pr and your site can be promoted in so many different ways such as through article submissions on different websites, promoting your site on forums as well as other methods.

To be successful you must look at other methods of having a great site such as how much money is earn't through the site, the number of unique visitors and other things.

However it is always nice to see your site to get a new pr as everyone always wants to try and be number 1!

sure, you have to divide but you are not going to have any success if your page rank is that bad. Because if you are successful and more and more people visit your side your pagerank increases. So to me it is kind of an indicator if i do enough advertising or if I should do some more.

Just my personal opinion.
