Post Change the way ads are displayed now in the forum

The way ads are now displayed in the forum, is slowing the loading of pages and also, the two ads together are the same most times. So, it won't give much revenue(I think so). The old way, with one ad at the starting of thread and one at the bottom looks much better.

What do you think about this suggestion? For a dial up user like me, the forum is very slow now a days...

Bizzard you should download ff and run adblock plus and it works a treat stopping all ad's from being displayed when a site comes up.

I don't like having to wait for ad's to display on a site before I can use it even though I am on a broadband connection.

I am a bit critical about using ad blockers, for sure for dail up users it improves the speed but keep in mind why we place those ads ? like you do on your personal side they are placed to earn some money cause profusehost.net has to pay for our servers. We earn money each time somebody clicks an advert. If everybody blocks the ads and nobody clicks we earn no money and if we have no money we can not give away free hosting space.

What I want to tell you is, you support profusehost.net by watching or even clicking those ads.

Therefore I disagree with using adblockers, but this is my personal opinion. I am no Administrator, I am just a Moderator, I do not know what john and the others think about people who block the ads but I know we earn less money if you block our ads.

Well then maybe we should go with a company that only needs the ad's to be displayed as surely that would earn more money in the long run.

Regardless of whether you say that or not you are unsure on whether the ad's are paid for a period of time or pay per click.

Anyhow I have only been using this ad blocker for testing over the last week! and I never click on ad's normally .

I too don't agree with using ad blockers... I do click on the ads sometimes if its interesting... and that's what post for host account is meant for...

So, its better changing the two ads together to one @ top and one @ the bottom of the thread. Also, try text ads instead of images...

Well you were the one saying that the site was too slow with those two ad's so I was just offering an alternative for you...

Anyway I mostly don't use the ad blocker plug in but I have it to check client sites, etc when I do work to make sure that the site still displays properly without ad's and with.

I do click on some ad's.

Some sites do get too many ad's added to them.. Just look at bigpond.com an ISP that I am with that has too many sites that I think I might just start using it regularly for this site as we are paying them money anyhow!

That is the point:

"How many ads to place on your side ?"

I think about this question each time I design a new page. On the one hand you want to place as much ads as possible because you earn money with placing the ads and people clicking them. But on the other hand a page with too many ads look stupid and the users won't come back. So you have to find the way between.

Number of ad units can be decided based on the content of the page... If its a really big page, 3 or even more ad units can be worked out. Also, if the content is of high interest to visitors, even a small page can have more ad units.

But, I couldn't find any such logic in the two ads together in the forum here...

Me, too. But I am just thinking about where to place the ads on my own side. There are some options I have. either place the ad above the regular side so the users see it when accessing the page first. But the design is destroyed if you place a ad in the head part.

Or place the ad at the bottom but ads placed at the bottom are not clicked very often so I also think this is not the right place.

Therefore there is only the sidebar left, or to place the ads right into the content and I think that is the best way.

Do you agree ?

made few changes to the forum, so please check the speed now and let me know. You might encounter more errors now because sometimes compression doesn't work well in dynamic environment.

Thank you very much John for changing the ads. I just clicked some, to show you my feedback ;-) Maybe the others do the same!
