New Version of Windows.. For What??

A new version of windows is under development. Its is decided that its name will be Vienna. But now its decided that it will be called as Windows 7. Anyway it will hit market by 2010. But is that needed??? I don't think windows vista had much of a effect in Indian markets. I don't know what is going on In America. But it will take a long time to Vista to get a good hold Indian market.

Well, when you consider the advances that occur in hardware in three years, it probably is necessary. Also in areas like multiprocessing, we already need advances to be made. From the sounds of things, Windows 7 is supposed to have some feature that will change the way we use computers, I'm guessing it'll be a new user interface, and I hear that there's going to be increased integration with Windows Live.

Windows Vista mightn't be getting a hold on Indian markets, but I know that on the Australian markets it's selling quite well, as I expect is the case with other western markets like the US and UK, etc.

yes, newer versions are always needed for everything ads is the same in software and in Operating Systems. I agree Microsoft Vista hasn't got a good reception from all over the world, but only in certain areas. The pirated versions of Vista are now available everywhere. I hope next version will have some more facilities to stop piracy.

Also, while considering Linux, many new versions and distros are released every month and perhaps every week.

I think the system requirements for Windows Vista is far too high. It is supposed to surprise the use bu its graphical abilities. But linux distributions show much more graphical ability with smaller system congiguration.
